TEACHING
Learning to see before learning what to do.
For more than two decades, teaching has been an extension of Paul's work as a coach. From movement and running mechanics to biomechanics, programming and human performance, the subject has changed over the years. The underlying responsibility has remained the same: help people understand what they are seeing, why it matters, and how to respond.

A GLOBAL CLASSROOM
From 2010 to 2016, Paul travelled internationally as part of the CrossFit Endurance seminar team, teaching coaches in biomechanics, programming, injury prevention and human performance. The classroom changed constantly. From São Paulo to Madrid, Singapore to Seoul, Dubai to Pretoria, Lima to London, Stockholm to Quito—the work crossed countries, languages and coaching cultures. But many of the questions remained remarkably similar. What are we actually seeing? What is preventing this person from moving well? And what does the person in front of us need—not simply what does the system tell us to do?Those questions continue to shape Paul's work today.

TEACHING COACHES TO SEE
Running mechanics became one of the clearest laboratories for this work.As a POSE Method Master Coach, Paul taught and certified coaches in running mechanics, using movement analysis, slow-motion video and practical coaching to reveal the difference between what an athlete believes they are doing and what is actually happening. The objective was never simply to teach another technique. It was to develop observation.Because correction without understanding is guesswork.Better coaching begins with learning how to see.

EXPERIENCE BECOMES METHOD
Years of teaching coaches around the world did not produce a belief that one system held every answer. They produced the opposite. The more people Paul coached—and the more coaches he taught—the clearer it became that good coaching requires the ability to draw from different disciplines, observe without assumption, and adapt the solution to the person. That same thinking had already been developing for years inside Total Balance alongside Christine De Bellefeuille.Today, those experiences continue through The Balance Method: coach education built around observation, assessment, movement, prehabilitation, rehabilitation and biomechanics. The methods continue to evolve. The responsibility of the coach does not.Understand before prescribing.

THE WORK CONTINUES
Teaching has never been limited to formal certifications.Across coaching, classrooms, mountain expeditions and conversations, Paul's work continues to return to a larger set of questions:How do people adapt? How do we make better decisions when circumstances change? What does experience teach us to notice? And how do we remain willing to learn after expertise makes it tempting to believe we already know? The environments continue to change. The exploration does not.
